Search Engine Optimisation

Website Development

Kafunta Safaris.

Kafunta Safaris is a safari company in South Luangwa, Zambia. They offer unmatched wildlife experiences in the heart of Africa with their three unique camps. From outstanding game viewing at Kafunta River Lodge, the adventurous wilderness of Island Bush Camp and the stunning views and unique sleep-outs at Three Rivers Camp they really have it all.

The Problem.

Kafunta Safaris has been well established in the Safari industry for over 25 years. With their major competition moving online and further competition with OTA Kafunta needed to start making up lost ground online. Kafunta had an existing website when they came to Kalulu Marketing but poor site speed, lack of traffic and an inability to integrate with their booking system meant change was needed.

The Approach.

In order to address Kafunta’s main issues, we started with a website rebuild in order to address the loading speed and integrate with Kafunta’s online booking system. We chose to build the new website on WordPress which is an incredibly versatile CMS that worked perfectly for the Kafunta website and also helped greatly with our approach to generating more traffic.

To generate more traffic we focused on a Search Engine Optimisation campaign (SEO). Which allowed us to rank their website organically for key terms in their industry. The campaign was targeted towards Kafunta’s international markets in Europe and Australia in particular. We first started on improving the Technical SEO foundations of the website while rebuilding it, this left us with a strong foundation to focus on content generation with a new blog and safari packages sections once the website went live.

The Results.

We were able to fully rebuild Kaunta’s 180-page website on WordPress and in the process were able to fully integrate their booking system to the website allowing potential clients the ability to check for live room availability. The change also improved load speeds on the website by 20%.

Three months after the launch of the new website Kafunta has experienced an 83% increase in search impressions and a 35% increase in organic website visitors. We continue to work with Kafunta on the SEO campaign and expect these numbers to continue to improve (SEO doesn’t happen overnight) but it shows the importance of building a website on strong SEO foundations.
